My Personal Statement
Besides my personal faith, there are two things that are very important to me and have help shape who I am today. My family and education have had a direct impact on the way I live my daily life. I strive each day to achieve goals in which will enable me to become a better well-round and giving person.
My family gives me love and support in every aspect of life. My family is a unit that holds each other when tragedy happens or laughs and smiles when life brings us surprises. Family days and eating meals together will always remain very close to my heart. My mom, who is my best friend, has shown me how laughter and doing things with each other can make life a wonderful bonding experience. My dad has shown me through dedication and hard work, success is obtainable and that each person should always strive to achieve their goals in life. My brother, in his 20's, has shown me how spending time together and giving each other help in areas that we may struggle in is one of the key components to a close relationship. My family has had a huge impact and I am very proud to be a part of it.
My education has also given me a sense of direction. From an early age, I was taught how important education is in order to succeed in life. I have strive throughout all the years of public school and college to always do beyond average in my studies.
The knowledge I have attained will help carry me throughout the many years of life. The constant thrive to learn has also encouraged me to go into the teaching field and pass on the passion I feel for learning to students. As a college student, I strived to achieve the best in myself throughout all of my four degrees.
After earning a master degree in history in 2006, I continued to take educational workshops to enhance learning as I feel we should never stop learning in our life even if we step out of the college arena. As a high school biology teacher and a college history professor, I am always encouraging students to grab the enthusiastic outlook on education and see the possibilities that it opens. The doors are endless with education as one of the foundations in your life. I grabbed the enthusiastic in education as well and advance my learning through workshops, training, courses, teacher insight and exploring the advancements in the world around us. Thus, having education be a true personal statement of who I am and what I stand for.
Though I have many mottoes in life, one of my mottoes in which I model my life is “Positive attitudes will succeed.” This motto defines who I am and how I correspond to situations and people in life. In addition, equally important motto that I model my life is to: "Remember the positive things in everything that happens even if the clouds are dark." Lastly, I believe that every person has a talent and I model my life by using those talents that I was given to make this world a better place to live than it was the day before. If I succeed in my mottoes, I believe my purpose in life will be fulfilled.
